Funds for establishment and operation of the Agency are provided from licence fees, a part of the use of system tariff, as well as other income earned in carrying out activities from within its competence in line with the Law.
Total revenues and expenditures of the Agency are specified in the annual financial plan of the Agency.
The National Assembly approves the financial plan of the Agency.
Establishment and initial two-year operation of the Energy Agency were covered by donation from the European Union via the European Agency for Reconstruction in line with the contract signed on July 29, 2005.

On the session held on December 21, 2023, the Council of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia has adopted a decision on an approval of Gas Pipeline Transmission System Development Plan for 2022-2031 which was adopted by the transmission system operator Transportgas Srbija. Investments which are planned to be realized in the three-year period are included in the Plan.
