On the session of March 3, the Council of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia has adopted a decision on approval of Transmission System Development Plan for 2021-2030 and Investment Plan for 2021-2023 which was adopted by the Joint Stock Company “Elektromreža Srbije” (EMS AD) as the transmission system operator.
The ten-year transmission system development plan was developed in line with the Energy Law, with the Energy Sector Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia until 2025 with projections until 2030 and with the Strategy Realisation Programme. The adoption of theTen-Year Development Plan represents the compliance of the obligation prescribed by the Law that, when drafting the Plan, the transmission system operator has to take into account the regional investment plan within the Pan-European Ten-Year Development Plan drafted by the European Network Transmission System Operator – Electricity (ENTSO-E).
The ground for the transmission system development planning were the demand of the distribution system operator in terms of construction of new facilities, development demand of the production system of the Republic of Serbia, review of considered applications for the connection of facilities to the transmission system as well as the demand related to the reconstruction of the power network.
The three-year investment plan describes investment demand from national, regional and European aspect. The compliance with this demand has an important impact to the increase of transmission system capacity which will enable further electricity market development, increase in transmission system reliability and security of customer supply and increased possibility to connect new conventional and renewable sources.
