The Council of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia has adopted a decision on approval of 2018-2027 EMS AD Transmission System Development Plan and of 2018-2020 Investment Plan which were adopted by the Joint Stock Company “Elektromreža Srbije” (EMS AD) as the transmission system operator.
The ten-year transmission system development plan was drafted in line with the Energy Law and in line with the Energy Sector Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia until 2025 with projections until 2030 and with the Program for Strategy Implementation. Priority goals and activities include the provision of secure electricity supply, electricity market development on both national and regional level, development of transmission capacity and development of corridors across the Republic of Serbia of regional and Pan-European importance. There were several background points for transmission system development planning which include the demand of the distribution system operator in terms of construction of new facilities, needs of the Republic of Serbia regarding the production system development, survey of completed files on connection of facilities to the transmission system and the demand of EMS AD within project related to the connection with neighbouring systems, as well as necessary reconstruction of the power grid.
The three-year investment plan describes investment demand from national, regional and European aspect the realization of which has an important impact on the transmission capacity development within the regional transmission network and, thereby, on the electricity market development in Europe.
