On the session held on December 31, 2020, the Council of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia has adopted a decision on the approval of 2020-2029 Gas Transmission System Development Plan which was adopted by the transmission system operator - Transportgas Srbija.

The ten-year transmission system development plan was developed in line with the Energy Law,  with the Energy Sector Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia until 2025 with projections until 2030 and with the Strategy Implementation Programme. Investments which are planned to be realized in a three-year period are integral part of the Plan.

Priority goals which were identified during the Plan development phase included the provision of secure natural gas supply, natural gas market development on national and regional level and the creation of conditions for more intensive development of gas distribution network in Serbia.

The demand of distribution system operators and connected transmission system operators in the country and abroad, planned natural gas production, demand of storage operators and of final transmission system customers, primarily combined heat and power plants were used as the grounds for planning transmission system development.

The connection with the new gas pipeline crossing the territory of the Republic of Serbia and connected with the transmission systems in the Republic of Bulgaria and Hungary was also considered during the Plan development phase.
